June 22 & 23, 2011 2011 Events Packet IAPT Mechanic Workshops and Hands-on Training
Come to IAPT's Mechanic Workshops to receive information and hands-on training. Mechanics attending the workshops also have the opportunity of attending our large trade show and speaking with representatives from all exhibitors.
For more information about the Mechanic Workshops, email Karen DePorto at: kdeporto@lw210.org
Following the workshops, all mechanics are invited to participate in the IL Best School Bus Technician Competition -- either as a competitor or as an observer. The Tech competition is a fun learning experience for everyone. The final scores of the competitors will not be revealed. The mechanic with the highest score from the written part and the “hands-on” part of the competition will earn the opportunity to represent Illinois at the National competition in Jasper, IN. Travel expenses to the National competition will be provided by Hydrotex and IAPT.
Questions in the written part may be true/false or multiple choice. An example of a true/false question is:
In a diesel engine equipped with glow plugs; the glow plugs perform the same function as the spark plugs do in a gasoline engine. True/False
An example of a hands-on exercise is:
A bus driver writes up that the bus has a vibration above 30 mph and the vibration gets worse the higher the road speed. What may be wrong?
The Illinois Association for Pupil Transportation is proud to participate in the national competition for America's Best School Bus Technician.
